Governor Murphy’s announcement on the 4th. of May that as of May 19-21, Atlantic City casinos and other New Jersey businesses could fully resume operations

The recent lifting of the restrictions removes the 50% capacity restrictions imposed on 19 March 2021. Under the new ordinance, casinos, restaurants, shops, salons, barber shops, gyms, swimming pools, amusement parks, places of worship and theaters can operate at 100% of their capacity. However, the rules of social distance at 1 meter and wearing masks remain in force. Other changes introduced on 19. that may affect the operation of casinos in Atlantic City are as follows:

  • No limit on the number of people per group that can sit at a table (the current maximum is eight people).
  • No limitation on the number of people at outdoor meetings
  • Up to 250 people for catered events and business meetings
  • Limit of 30% of capacity for confined spaces with a fixed number of seats, such as. B. large exhibition halls seating 1 000 or more people

In addition, from the age of 14. May, even before the above changes, all of the following were allowed:

  • Socially isolated places in the bar
  • Restaurant tables and bar seating may be separated by more than 6 feet, provided barriers are installed.
  • The buffets can open again.

Here are Governor Murphy’s comments on the recent easing of restrictions: This is the most aggressive action we have taken to date to resume operations. We did exactly what we promised all along. We made these decisions based on public health indicators, not policy.

How the casinos in Atlantic City got here

As mentioned in my article of 19. April 2021 for NJ Online Casino Atlantic City entries: As for what is currently open and what is not, Governor Murphy has been very careful in his decision on how much of the restrictions can be lifted. When the casinos opened, he limited the number of visitors to only 25% of capacity. She eventually lifted these restrictions. However, before returning to 100%, the maximum power was set to 35% and then 50%.

Schedule of changes

Here’s a timeline of significant changes related to Atlantic City’s casinos, starting with the 16th Circuit’s March 2020 decision to close the casino, and from its reopening last July to the present. 3/16/20 : Governor Murphy has ordered the closure of all nine Atlantic City casinos and is keeping them closed until further notice. 7/2/20 : The casino in Atlantic City is allowed to reopen. However, the number of participants was limited to 25% of capacity, and strict attention was paid to social distance. Eating and drinking were also forbidden on the premises, and everyone had to wear a protective mask. 9/4/20 : Reintroduce indoor bar and restaurant service, but with the same 25% capacity limits and social distance requirements as for outdoor bars and restaurants. 11/12/20 : Due to a cluster of coronavirus cases, all indoor food services were suspended from 10pm to 5am. In addition, it was no longer permitted to serve food or drink at the bar at any time. 2/5/21 : The maximum occupancy rate for casinos, hotels and restaurants has been increased to 35%. 3/19/21 : The occupancy limit for casinos, restaurants and hotels has been increased to 50% of capacity. In addition, the previous rule that prohibited serving food and beverages between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. has been lifted. 5/29/21 : The casinos will be back to 100% capacity. But it won’t be the same as before the pandemic. Social distancing and wearing a mask are always necessary.

What the latest changes mean forplayers

Atlantic City casinos will soon experience the biggest loosening of special health and safety restrictions put in place 14 months ago. And with Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer upon us, the latest change couldn’t have come at a better time. The pandemic has virtually eliminated casino entertainment. For the first time since the winter of 2020, the big showrooms can open their doors again with some of the best names in the business. In addition, now that free COVID-19 vaccines are available and the number of new cases is dropping, many people who used to be afraid to come to Atlantic City can put their fears aside. Governor Murphy deserves credit for his responsible actions during the pandemic, gradually bringing back missing shows and maintaining health and safety protocols.  As a result, both gamers and non-gamers will not only want to come to Atlantic City this summer, but will also find many ways to have fun.

New restaurants, lounges and other facilities

And as Atlantic City continues on its road to recovery, the next few months will be a win-win for everyone. This benefits the players, the casino, the surrounding community and the State of New Jersey. Between now and early July, casinos will open many new restaurants and facilities in anticipation of the expected increase in traffic.

What happens at Harrah’s

Harrah’s has so many new openings that former customers returning this summer may think it’s a completely different casino! The new Rum Point seafood restaurant, overlooking the bay, opened its doors earlier this month at Harrah’s Resort in the space formerly occupied by Veracruz restaurant. Currently, the restaurant is only open on Friday and Saturday nights, but that may change over the course of the summer. A student I teach online who works there as a line cook told me that the restaurant had 200 covers a day for the first two days. In addition to Rum Point, other openings at Harrah’s are planned in the near future:

  • A first class spa adjacent to the pool.
  • Lobby Bar: enlarged and modernized bar
  • The Baywalk is an open-air bar with a dining area and live music.
  • New restaurant and nightlife at The Pool.

Harrah’s expects all of these facilities to be open by Memorial Day weekend.
