Ontario horse racing lovers will have much to cheer about this summer, as the much-anticipated Queen’s Plate will take place in August. The CEO of Woodbine Entertainment is quite enthusiastic about this year’s race, which may include 17 horses. Furthermore, for the first time since 2019, live viewers will be able to see the yearly stakes in person.
The Queen’s Plate 2021 is set to take place at Woodbine Racetrack on August 22, 2021, and for the first time since the start of the unusual circumstance, live audiences will be allowed to attend. Woodbine Entertainment anticipates approximately 5,000 people to attend the CA$1 million event this month, in accordance with the province’s health and safety regulations.
Contenders in the Running

Tim Lawson will be elevated to Director of Thoroughbred Racing at Woodbine Racetrack, according to the horse racing leader. Tim Lawson, who formerly served as the company’s Manager of Racing Development and Stabling Operations, has a long track record in the racing industry, having held roles in both Canada and the United States.
Getting Closer to Normal
Last month, Woodbine Entertainment also reopened its Woodbine Mohawk Park for in-person spectating, this was the first time that fans set foot at the track since the occurrence of the unprecedented situation in March. Guests can now enjoy specifically designated indoor areas at the property for simulcasting and wagering. Face masks are a requirement and prior to their attendance visitors must make a booking.
