With all the recent hype surrounding the World Cup of 2018 in Russia, our best bets are on July 10th as bracelet hunting begins in earnest. With so many tournaments taking place during this time of the year, we’ve decided to add a few more to the list of tournaments to watch and will be watching a few players closely as the summer rolls on.

The Shark Tank is the largest and most prestigious casino award in the world. For every $1,000,000 the Shark Tank gives out, only 3% is given to the casino. The other 97% goes to the Shark Tank winner. This award has been given out since 1947, and has given out $500,000 to $1,000,000,000 to many different people. This year, this award will be given to an up and coming poker player.

Summer is around the corner, and with it comes a whole new wave of bracelet hunting. Almost every time the series is released, bracelet players take to the internet to proclaim who they will be targeting, and when they will hit the open market. This year will be no different, as players continue their quest for the hottest of the hot. That said, here are some players to keep an eye on as bracelet hunting begins.. Read more about will there be a wsop in 2021 and let us know what you think.

The World Series of Poker Online begins tomorrow and promises plenty of action in the hunt for bracelets. The series is available to players in New Jersey and Nevada, and some members of the Catena Media Poker team recently tagged a few players to keep an eye on.

The choice of online players is not always easy. But the sheer size of the online WSOP means at least some regular players will be in action.

The possibility of winning a gold bracelet also attracts some renowned professionals. USPoker will be providing regular updates as the WSOP continues. This also applies to the way our selectors work. Here’s a look at some of the players who could have a big summer this year.

Anthony Cicali, USPoker

Frank Funaro, Jr. (Sewell, New Jersey)

Major victories: Winner of the 2020 $3,200 Online High Roller bracelet ($219,089); winner of the 2020 $2,000 Online High Roller ($44,489); winner of the 2021 $215 WSOPC Online ($15,347).

After finishing second in 2020, Funaro returns this summer to give something back. He is currently the top online grinder in New Jersey and won his first WSOPC online ring in May.

Ryan Dodd (Runnemede, New Jersey)

Ryan Dodd

Major victories: 1,100 NLHE MSPT 2021 (second place, $236,927); $1,090 Eight-Max Borgata 2019 (second place, $24,500); $525 Spring Super WSOPC online 2021 ($51,300).

Ryan Dodd is the definition of hot-tempered. He has won more than $500,000 in live and online tournaments in the last three months. That includes two WSOPC online rings this spring. A full cycle of events for Dodd is expected in July.

Yong Keun Kwon (Palisades Park, New Jersey)

Major victories: 400 WSOP Online 2019 bracelet ($165,263); $525 WSOPC Online 2019 ($121,730); $320 WSOPC Online 2021 ($24,000).

Kwon grabbed his first bracelet of 2019 by beating Phil Hellmuth. LuckySpewy is currently ranked seventh in the United States and should gain a lot of volume this summer.

Kwon was the 2020 WSOP Player of the Year and recently won his first WSOP Circuit online ring in April.

Jarred Gabin (Las Vegas)

Major victories: 50 WSOP Sunday Kickoff 2020 ($6,204); $320 WSOPC Online 2021 (8th place, $4,415).

Most gamers know Jarred Gabin from his famous streams on Twitch. Be on the lookout for God’sBigToe this summer. He may not have as many wins as some of the other players on this list, but his coaching and learning habits could pay big dividends. He plans to play in other WSOP online tournaments.

Michael Leh (Alma, Arkansas)

Major victories: 888 Crazy Eights WSOP 2016 (second place, $401,888); $1,500 WSOP High Roller Bracelet online 2020 ($164,249); $2,200 WSOPC New Orleans 2017 ($106,377).

Lech is a grinder who currently has eight WSOPC rings and one bracelet. He has worked hard throughout the pandemic and is on track to win another award this summer. Lech is a versatile player who plays successfully both live and online.

Ian Steinman (Carson City, NV)

Major victories: 2020 WSOP.com $400 bracelet event ($110,557); 2021 Benny Binion Summer Shootout $2,200 ($65,000); 2018 WPT Rolling Thunder $3,500 (second place, $201,428); 2018 WSOP $1,500 NLHE (second place, $197,461).

Ian Steinman

Ian Steinman is a grinder from Northern California and plays poker tournaments in Lake Tahoe. He gained some notoriety on the poker scene for his unrealistic but correct top-set foul against Joe McKeehen at the 2018 WPT Rolling Thunder final table.

He’s ice cold on the felt, coloring the mountains blue with Coors Light, which he drinks while patiently and assiduously collecting chips until he’s heads-up for a stack of cash. Steinman not only won his first WSOP bracelet in the 2020 Online Series, but also finished first in total points.

Steinman is coming off a win in the South Point Benny Binion Summer Shootout. This will build a good bankroll and confidence leading up to the 2021 WSOP bracelet series. Be careful.

Jonathan Dockler (Las Vegas)

Major victories: Starting bracelet $500 WSOP Online 2020 ($130,426); $5,100 WPT Borgata High Roller 2020 ($100,829).

His first cash at the Hendon Mob came at the 2019 WSOP. But his results over the next two years were impressive, even despite his long hiatus from poker.

Dockler has 14 WSOP.com cashes in 2020, including a bracelet in the inaugural event. This after he started the 2020 year by winning the WPT High Roller Live event at the Borgata. If last year is any indication, Dockler will be chasing the No. 2 bracelet for most of 2021. And maybe even number 3.

Ryan Torgersen (Granby, Connecticut)

Major victories: 600 Monster Stack WSOP Online Bracelet Series 2020 ($172,362); $1,000 Six-Max WSOP Online Bracelet Series 2020 ($116,379).

Torgersen made an impressive breakthrough by reaching two consecutive final tables at the 2020 Online Bracelet Series. He reached another final table with a second and a first place finish before the series ended.

He has already proven that he has what it takes to compete in WSOP.com tournaments. Now armed with a healthy bankroll and another year of experience, Torgersen should be a serious threat in 2021. His online nickname is im.sorry but he won’t shy away from adding a few bracelets to his collection.

Ruffman (Colts Neck, New Jersey)

Major victories: 1,100 Wynn Summer Classic Seniors 2019 ($61,914); $365 WSOPC 2018 Ring ($12,718).

Women are still undervalued in numbers, but not in heart. As I scrolled through the current results pages of players from Nevada and New Jersey, it became clear to me that women are more underrepresented than ever in poker, but especially online.

Despite the large number of strong competitors, Ruffman shined. Ruth had several strong finishes at the 2020 WSOP Online, including a fourth place finish in the $1,000 Six-Max event, where she won $58,000. They were joined at the final table by Torgersen (second) and Steinman (sixth). Ruffman could build on that momentum during the WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series in 2021.

June Kim (Las Vegas, NV)

Jung Kim

Major victories: 800 Knockout Deepstack WSOP Online Bracelet 2021 ($106,127); $400 Monster Stack Venetian 2020 ($33,333)

Jung Kim won not one, but two tournaments in 2020 and proved his versatility by winning online and live tournaments. He earned his first and so far only six-figure victory in the WSOP Online $800 Knockout event last summer.

This Las Vegas player used this win to enter another tournament, the $400 Deepstacks tournament at the Venetian in the fall. Just like in baseball, no one can deny the importance of momentum in poker. Expect Kim to increase her bankroll and win a bracelet in 2021.

Dan Buzgon (Marlton, New Jersey)

Major victories: WSOPC Online $500 PLO 2021; NJSCOOP $100 NLHE 2021

This grinder from New Jersey and representative of Borgata Poker is no stranger to the winner’s podium. He already has

His most recent WSOP.com win was the $14,500 Money Madness tournament in June.

Buzgon also won three PokerStars NJSCOOP titles in May and added a win in the partypoker Mega Tuesday event. He added two WSOPC online rings in February and continues to play.

Dan Lupo (West Milford, New Jersey)

Dan Lupo

Major victories: WSOP.com $500 Turbo Deepstack bracelet in 2019; WSOP.com Circuit rings (2019 and 2021); multiple NJ online titles.

Few American online players are as decorated as Lupo. He has won just about everything an American online player can win. These include WSOP bracelets, WSOPC rings, SCOOP titles and much more.

That record includes four NJSCOOP titles this year alone. Expect him to try and win another bracelet this summer. He is an online poker monster and should be ready to roar.

Phil Hellmuth (Palo Alto, CA)

Phil Hellmuth

Major victories: 15-time WSOP bracelet winner; 1989 WSOP Main Event.

This might be a little unusual for an online series. But Hellmuth is still hungry for a bracelet, and he’s had some decent heads-up wins in recent years.

In 2019 he finished fifth in the $400 bracelet online tournament and in 2020 he finished 11th. Can he put in another deep run this summer?

Hellmuth plans to play in Vegas all summer. He also has a positive track record (the title of his latest book) having won numerous matches on High Stakes Duel.

Nathan Gamble (Las Vegas)

Major victories: 2019 WSOP $1,500 PLO Hi/Lo; 2020 WSOP Online PLO 6-Handed

Of course, it’s a bit of a gamble, as the Texan only wants to play in Omaha tournaments. That gives him only four chances to win the title, but Gamble is an excellent four-card poker player.

His name certainly fits the games he plays, but he is familiar with Omaha tournaments. This should continue this summer in at least some of these events.

Upeska De Silva (Katy, Texas)

Upeska De Silva

Major victories: WPTDeepStacks title in 2017; three WSOP bracelets.

De Silva was unlucky enough to make the final table of the WSOP US Main Event, but dropped out due to COVID-19. After some recent online successes, he can look forward to more victories at WSOP.com.

De Silva has already managed to win a bracelet online. He won the 2019 $600 online Knockout Bounty and received his third bracelet. This summer’s events offer the cool player a chance to expand his ranking.
