Play’n GO Makes Its Way into Ontario's iGaming Industry

Play’n GO, a well-known gaming provider, just announced that it would be the next business to enter Ontario’s eagerly awaited iGaming and sports betting sector. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has granted the developer regulatory authority to enter the market and lawfully sell its goods to local gamblers and other licensed organizations.

The province has gained a lot of attention since the federal government decriminalized single-event wagering this summer. Approved operators from the AGCO and its subsidiary iGaming Ontario will now be allowed to provide their goods online to gamblers inside the province in a controlled and responsible way beginning April 4, 2022.

Obtaining a License

Play’n GO is now looking forward to April 4 after receiving the official green light from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The corporation will be able to showcase its original gambling items to the locals once the market is officially launched, and some of its most popular games include Book of Dead, Reactoonz, Rise of Olympus, Tome of Madness, and others.

Magnus Olsson, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his delight at the news. He went on to say that regulated marketplaces are vital not just for the provider, but for the whole gaming sector. They create a safe gaming environment for players, according to him, and let operators to concentrate on providing a comprehensive experience that is also viable.

He went on to say that the province is significant since it would now provide access to the supplier’s trademark items to about 40% of the country’s population. Furthermore, he said that Ontario is just the first of several North American target markets, as the firm would soon launch its brand in another regulated market, this time in the United States.

The casino provider’s goal, according to Sissel Weitzhandler, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, is to engage all licensed countries. She thanked the AGCO for the license on behalf of the supplier and said that the province’s iGaming market opening is an exciting and essential milestone for the firm on its North American journey.

The Challenge

However, now that Play’n GO has been granted a license to operate in Ontario’s regulated market, it will face stiff competition from other gaming companies. For example, renowned online bookmaker Bet365 recently announced that it would be expanding into the jurisdiction after being granted a license by the AGCO. As a result, the firm that formerly operated in the gray market will now operate in the regulated market.

Furthermore, Rush Street Interactive, based in Illinois, stated last week that it now has an Ontario iGaming license. The firm already has a presence in Canada, as CASINO4Fun® on BetRivers.ca provides social gaming. However, beginning next month, it will be able to offer gamblers its premium BetRivers app with real-money bets.
