The technology that powers the bitcoin blockchain has been attracting a lot of attention lately. But, one area where it seems to have found no traction is in gaming. But, there are signs of change on the horizon as SBC Summit North America gathers gambling industry leaders this week.
The “SBC Digital Summit North America” is a SBC summit that will tackle the challenges of betting industry. The event will be held on September 12-13, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
(19 November 2021) — During the Leaders in Sports track at SBC Summit North America, the future of the US sports betting business, its connections with professional sports organizations and media companies, and the sector’s investment environment will be examined in detail.
Executives from DraftKings, BetMGM, Penn Interactive, Bally’s Corporation, ESPN, and Yahoo Sports are expected to attend the track, which will take place on December 1 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey, on the first full day of the sports betting and igaming industry event.
The track will be out with a keynote from Bally’s Corporation Chairman Soo Kim, one of the leading protagonists in the gaming industry’s frenetic M&A activities. He’ll discuss the convergence of sports and gaming with CNBC’s Contessa Brewer, as well as the New York and New Jersey markets and how igaming is taking shape.
Following that, a special SBC Leaders Panel will discuss the current trends, developments, challenges, and opportunities in the US betting and gaming market. BetMGM’s Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost, Penn Interactive’s Head Jon Kaplowitz, and DraftKings’ Chief Business Officer Ezra Kucharz are among the expert panelists, with OpenBet’s Chief Commercial Officer Cathryn Lai serving as moderator.
The formation of relationships between large media brands and sports betting providers has been one of the main industry trends in 2021, and the chances to further extend that connection and reach the next generation of bettors is the focus of the second panel session of the day.
ESPN’s Vice President of Sports Betting & Fantasy Mike Morrison, Yahoo Sports’ General Manager Geoff Reiss, CEO and Founder of Quarter4 Kelly Brooks, WSC Sports’ Head of Betting Yuval Benyamini, and Jason Logan, Senior Industry Analyst for Covers will speak at ‘Exploring the Converging Worlds of Media and Betting.’
With the ‘Life After SPACS: What’s Next for the Betting and Capital Market Ecosystem?’ session, the afternoon’s program will begin with a keynote from Bill Miller, President & CEO of the AGA, before focusing on the investment landscape that is helping to drive the growth of sports betting in North America.
Davis Catlin, Senior Managing Director at Las Vegas Sands Corp, Matt Davey, President & CEO of Tekkorp Capital, Jake Kleiner, Investment Partner with Bettor Capital, and Kresimir Spajic, President of iGaming, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation will be on a panel moderated by Joel Simkins (Managing Director – Head of Gaming & Leisure Investment Banking, Truist Securities).
A separate investing session will look at how gaming firms can maintain the profitability and growth required to justify their stock prices. Crispin Nieboer, Partner at Orange Capital, Wayne Kimmel, Managing Partner at SeventySix Capital, Chris Grove, CEO of American Affiliate Co, and Barry Jonas, Managing Director at Truist Securities will be on the ‘Race for M&A: Bust or Boom?’ panel.
The next hot issue is what betting businesses can learn from professional sports teams and leagues’ fan engagement initiatives, and how the various collaborations between the two sectors may evolve beyond standard sponsorship arrangements in the future years.

A second panel will go further into the critical topic of player engagement, examining if operators need to rethink their strategy right now in order to maintain long-term client loyalty.
Laila Mintas, CEO of PlayUp US, Matthew Metcalf, Sportsbook Director at Circa Sports, Seth Young, Chief Strategy Officer for Fifth Street Gaming, Tommy Kearns, CEO of Extremepush, and Johan Junker, CEO & Co-Founder of Antourage are among the panelists for ‘Player Engagement Models: The Battleground of the Future?’ Vic Salerno, President of USBookmaking and a member of the Sports Betting Hall of Fame, will conduct the discussion.

The SBC Summit North America conference schedule includes eight tracks, including Leaders in Sports. The other seven chapters deal with the most recent legislative changes, technology and innovations, payments and compliance, igaming, sports betting, capital and expansion, and marketing tactics.
The Summit kicks off on November 30 with a networking party at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club in Manhattan, followed by the conference and tradeshow on December 1 and 2.
Delegates may also look forward to the Sports Betting Hall of Fame event on December 1 at MetLife Stadium, as well as the SBC Awards North America ceremony and closing networking party the following evening at The Edison Ballroom in New York City.
