Woodbine will offer the internship for the school year to begin in March and will include an immersive, hands-on training program. The internship will be held in Woodbine’s downtown Toronto location.

Woodbine Entertainment has just announced its latest Standardbred racetrack for the 2021 live racing season at Woodbine Mohawk Park in Ontario. The course offers two live trotting fans the chance to see first-hand how the industry works behind the scenes. The application process is now officially open for candidates.
The two selected candidates will have the opportunity to work in all departments of the company for over 16 weeks to familiarise themselves with Standardbreds jumps and all associated procedures. The program gives participants the chance to fully understand how the industry works and decide if they want to be a part of it in the future.
An exciting opportunity
The Standardbred Horse Racing Internship is awarded to two candidates who will have the opportunity to see first-hand how the live racing industry operates at all levels. They can gain knowledge by assisting the racecourse, stakes manager, accountant, referee, guest judge and paddock.
The registration procedure is officially opened. Depending on the company, the ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of customer service experience, strong organizational and administrative skills, and the ability to process and relay information quickly. The hourly wage for temporary positions is 18 Canadian dollars per hour for 40 hours of work per week.
Hall of Fame member
The latest news on Woodbine Entertainment is that its president and CEO Jim Lawson will be inducted into the Burlington Sports Hall of Fame. Lawson was appointed CEO in 2015 and is now being honoured for his contributions to the Canadian sports industry in hockey, football and, of course, horse racing.
Mr Lawson has been involved in sport all his life, both by attending and leading such events. Lawson, born and raised in Burlington, enjoyed great success in his hockey career. He started at the Ottawa 67’s before receiving a scholarship to Brown University in Providence. He was then called up to the NHL and played for the Montreal Canadiens.

Woodbine Entertainment is enjoying life after the end of a previous restraining order in Ontario. The horse racing community now has the right to invite spectators to its racetracks in the county again. From 1.
