Woodbine Entertainment Group (WE) is an Ontario-based Canadian casino operator and developer that is planning to move forward with a major expansion and modernization of its Woodbine Racetrack and Casino, located in the Toronto suburb of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On May 10, 2012, the Ontario government issued a green light on the company’s proposed $1.6 billion modernization effort, which will add a new casino floor, a new hotel (at least one new hotel), expansion of the existing casino to include additional poker tables, and construction of new restaurants and bars.

The WEG argued that the closing date should be decided by the courts and not OLG.

Mr Lawson said the racecourse was introducing even stricter health and safety measures, such as screening jockeys and servants of jockeys for the dangerous virus, and said 80 per cent of Woodbine’s hinterland employees had been vaccinated.
